X ing Eastern Iran

Not much to say other than vast landscapes, amazing geology (although I am off work), dimensions I am not used to despite Omans big deserts, villages in the Dasht e Lut where people sometimes live in mud houses looking the same than probably 1000 years ago, friendly people…. Let the images speak….

For the Unimog tech interested ones some data:

1st 2000km:

  • no measurable oil consumption
  • average diesel consumption below 17.5 liters which is quite pleasing
  • cruising speeds almost never above 85 km/h generally between 70 and 80 unless offroad etc...
  • burnt out my fuel transfer pump but that’s was mainly due do to other modifications and I had a spare so no problem
  • weight all completely full 7200kg and I have way too much stuff with me...
  • so normal average travelling weight with less than full fuel and water and food is hovering around 7 tons which is acceptable… next time after some more experience I will be a bit more rigorous with tools and spares etc to take or not to take…
with the speeds I drive temperatures in the axles (Vorgelege) are reasonable even in the desert with 35 degrees+

You inspire me to go back to Iran and experience more! What an amazing country! What a way to do it- totally self-sufficient as long as you have access to petrol.

Did you find Noahs ark?! Hmm and you know what? The last greener picture looks a BIT LIKE SCOTLAND! Hahahaha! Must go Tripod is trying to eat my face...you know how he hates not being the centre of attention...he's missing his male father figure Xxx
