"seeing old friends" ctnd.

From the Eifel and my unimog friends I went on through the “hohe Pfalz” into the Rhein valley to Freiburg the small city where I studied. Here my friends Johannes und Karin with their kids (boy have they grown) hosted me for a night and Johannes took me to a memorable canoe trip on the Schluchsee in the high Black Forest bringing back many old memories. Then due West through the Allgaeu to Munich where my new friends Albert and Lydia were treating me with excellent German cuisine (Lydia) and excellent German engineering (Albert) as we were mounting my third diesel tank on the truck for an entire day (many thanks again). I skipped the Oktoberfest though, as my Lederhosen & Janker did not fit in the truck anymore… Next stop was Oberstdorf in the very Southern Allgaeu to see my mum and her hubby on holiday there. The weather was fantastic, blue skies with the odd white cumulus cloud hovering for contrast and everything still in a very deep green of the early fall. Absolutely stunning landscapes and Oberstdorf, a little village entirely dedicated to tourism is so clean and pretty, even the cows return to their stables in marching order. Clinical and stereotypical Bavaria but the Hefeweizen and Kaiserschmarrn tasted magnificent nevertheless - thanks mum.
